Hello, I’m Craig. As a freelance WordPress developer I design and develop bespoke WordPress websites for a wide range of clients in Edinburgh, East Lothian, Scotland, and beyond.

Around 2009 I chose WordPress as my content management system of choice (because it’s hands-down, the best CMS). Before this I dabbled with .NET development and a web design agency job. And going way back to around 1996, thanks to a visit to the Job Centre, I think I was one of the first web designers in Edinburgh. You can read more about my journey into web development here.

Bespoke WordPress themes

All my WordPress websites are built from the ground-up, using hand-coded HTML, CSS, PHP & JavaScript. I don’t use page-builders such as Elementor, WP Bakery or Visual Composer for the same reason I don’t use off-the-shelf WordPress themes such as Divi, as these create overly-bloated websites that are extremely difficult to maintain and prone to technical issues (and don’t even get me started on Wix!) Latest figures (June 2024) state that WordPress now powers 43.4%* of all websites across the world. That’s over 450 million sites. When you narrow it down to its share of the content management system market (against rivals such as Umbraco, Drupal etc.) that figure grows to almost 63%.
